Porch Pirates

On December 12, at 2:34pm, an unknown porch pirate stole from Dannis, a resident of The Pinnacle at Desert Peak near N Cave Creek Rd and E Pinnacle Peak Rd in Phoenix, AZ.

Dannis states that this has been happening a lot, despite the fact that the community is gated, and asked about cameras to purchase.

There are a lot of options out there, but I use Ring cameras and find them to be pretty reliable. The Ring Video Doorbell Pro is a good option if you're able to wire into where you have an existing doorbell, because the video doorbell can be charged by this connection, negating the need to charge the battery yourself, which can be a pain. Note that there is some setup involved there, but I did it myself and didn't find it very hard.

Another good option is the Ring Stick Up Cam with the solar panel. This is nice because if you place the solar panel well, you don't need to connect the camera to power, and I haven't had to take the batteries out to charge them yet! Your results may vary, of course.

The Arlo Pro cameras also get good reviews from a lot of sites, but I have no personal experience with them and can't vouch for them. At any rate, I would definitely recommend Googling this and reading some online reviews, because there are a lot of options!
